May 1 - Happy May Day

This morning, I walked Marge to the bus station where she caught the bus to the airport and then started her journey home.  She made it to Madrid where she is staying tonight then off on the long journey to Walla Walla.  Juli (our next visitor) is scheduled to arrive tomorrow evening - they should be crossing somewhere over the Atlantic.

It may only be the start of May, but today was like a perfect summer day.  The stores have started to display floats, swimming pools, and bathing suits.

This afternoon, I made my way down to check on the fairgrounds.  With the fair starting on Saturday night, there are only a couple of days left for final details and with today being a holiday in Spain - lots of people were out and about.  A thermometer near the grounds read 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees F), I am pretty sure the actual temperature was more like 33, but that is still our first time in the 90's.

The opening arch and midway are set up, the casetas are all built and there were people inside putting the final touches on the decorations, the vendors that line the streets around the fairgrounds are setting up their booths, and the lights are all strung....

After dinner, Albert and I took out the trash and stopped off for a gelato.  A perfect end to an almost summer day.  Tomorrow, back to school.
