September 12 - Getting Ready for the Procession?

Today was pretty quiet.  The slow and steady work continues across the street (with the addition today of a plumber - no idea what the problem was), grocery shopping and cooking were pretty uneventful, and class was the usual chaos of new and missing students - and the official start of subjunctive verb conjugations.

I arrived at my classroom about one minute before class is scheduled to start.
I didn't really need to rush up the stairs - nobody else was there yet.
With the temperatures climbing back into the 90's, people move a little slower.  But, by five minutes after 4, we were all there and ready to go.

Our landlords have started to add small bits of spanish into their communications with us.  Mario attempted today in a message to explain why - without warning -ppeople were hanging decorations from our balcony.
This Saturday night there will be a religious procession that will come down our street (complete with band).  He noted that the first time people hung things from the balcony without asking, he was surprised.  But, he now understands that people can't even fathom that you might want, in any way, to adversely affect the procession - so why bother asking.  I am not concerned - I found a schedule online that shows that the procession will be in our block between 8:45 and 9:45 Saturday night, so hopefully we can catch it.  I am not convinced that the bar owner across the street (in the newly painted building where the finishing touches are still not done) was excited about them hanging decorations from his newly painted building - but luckily, I am not trying to run a business - so for me it is just a fun cultural experience.  Bring on the band!
