The train was comfortable and on time, and we arrived in Madrid at a little after 1 o'clock. Next mode of public transport - METRO. The metro system in Madrid is large and makes it pretty easy to get around, and we used it to get out to our hotel.
After checking in, we headed back into center city (again on the Metro) to get a light lunch and walk over to the Reina Sofia museum. Unlike the fine arts museum in Sevilla that we visited yesterday, the Reina Sofia is more contemporary art. It has works by modern artists like Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso and Juan Gris as well as videos of and as art. We closed the place down but could easily go back.
At some point we really need to go to the Prado museum, but that will have to wait for another trip. We also might need to hit the Ham Museum....somehow the guidebooks have overlooked this one.
After our museum visit, we walked around a bit and visited a park that we had enjoyed on our visit to Madrid in July.
Eventually, we decided we should get some dinner and head back to the hotel. After the miles of walking, we both cleaned our plates.
We took the Metro back to the hotel and are now tucked in for the night. Tomorrow, more metro and train for me and airport shuttle and airplane for Albert.
